Elon Musk’s technology developer company Boring Company plans opening its first tunnel for Hyperloop in Los Angeles. The US entrepreneur publishes some hypnotizing footage from the tunnel that his two-year-old infrastructure company, Boring Company, is building in Los Angeles – the first of four planned projects that, according to Elon Musk’s promises, will reduce congestion in urban centers.
“Walked full length of Boring Co tunnel under LA tonight. Disturbingly long. On track for opening party Dec 10. Will be very one-dimensional”, wrote Elon Musk in Twitter.
The US entrepreneur also announced that the company would disclose to the public the rapid transit tunnel in the southern suburb of the city on December 10, approximately five weeks later. The idea of the developer is to organize the opening night, followed by free walks during the next day. Earlier, he said the system would be able to transport people, cyclists and private cars at speeds of up to 155 mph (250 km/h).
After all, if everything goes according to plan, they will travel through an electric drive platform called a capsule that will either consist of a car that carries up to 16 passengers or will maintain a car to be pushed inside. The elevators will move between these capsules and the street level.
Elon Musk does not yet disclose the length of the tunnel already built, but claims to be “disturbingly long”.
His Hyperloop high-speed transport project, proposed in 2012, provides for a capsule with passengers to move into special vacuum tunnels. This will allow a sharp increase in the speed of movement.
