Poland and the United States signed a joint declaration on expanding cooperation in the field of energy security. The document was signed today at the Polish Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski and his American counterpart, Rick Perry.

According to Krzysztof Tchorzewski, cooperation with the United States in the field of energy is strategic for Poland.

“The joint declaration we signed is proof of our mutual will to develop energy policy”, said the Polish Energy Minister. In his words, the paper covers topics such as security of gas supply, nuclear energy and cybersecurity.

Earlier today, Polish company PGNiG has signed a long-term deal with Cheniere Marketing International for supplier of LNG.

The agreement provides for Poland to receive about 0.73 billion cubic meters of gas after re-gasification in the period 2019-2022 and then between 2023 and 2042 about 39 billion cubic meters of gas after re-gasification for the entire period, which means deliveries of about 1.95 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The total volume of deliveries is 29.5 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas.

In October, a ceremony was held to sign a contract between PGNiG and the US country to supply 2 million tons of liquefied natural gas in Poland for 20 years.
