The US President Donald Trump has threatened to withdraw the United States from the World Trade Organization (WTO) if it does not improve its work.
“If they do not change, I will pull out of the WTO”, said Donald Trump.
The US President has repeatedly complained that the United States is being subjected to an unfair attitude in world trade and accuses the WTO of accepting this. He has said that the WTO has “behaved badly” for many years with the United States and that the organization needs to change its policy.
In April, Trump wrote in Twitter that the WTO is giving preference to China and behaving unfairly to the United States. In early June at a cabinet meeting, Trump called the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the WTO as disaster.
Donald Trump has also stated that the United States will seek to reform this organization.
The World Trade Organization was established on January 1, 1995 and has more than 160 countries. Its headquarters are in Geneva.
Donald Trump is ready to further stifle the trade war with China and told his associates that he would impose 25% duty on new Chinese goods worth 200 billion USD. The White House declined to comment on the news. Some of these sources have said that Trump has not yet made a final decision on the matter.
